Create what is arguably the most controversial garment in he history of fashion, the corset. Learn about the history o f the corset as you are lead through the basic steps in corset making, including; taking measurements, pattern alteration, fitting and finishing of your individually tailored corset.
Materials
Please bring the following to the first lesson (where you will choose from a basic block pattern and take your measurements)
- Fabric scissors
- Paper scissors
- Tape measure
- Tailors chalk
- Pins
- Safety pins
- Assorted hand sewing needles
- Assorted machine needles
- Pen/pencil
- Notebook
PLEASE NOTE From week 2 you will need to bring your sewing machine (optional). There are a limited number of sewing machines available to use on site; however, access for the entire night cannot be guaranteed. At minimum participants will need to have access to a sewing machine between classes.
